Purpose of the Program
The purpose of the Teacher to Teacher program is to promote literacy and learning for students at ACE partner schools by providing ongoing training, support, and modeling of teaching strategies, differentiation, and assessment driven instruction for teachers and the ACE tutoring staff.
The core belief of the Teacher to Teacher and the ACE Tutoring program is that every child can learn. ACE is dedicated to meeting the needs of the whole child. Therefore, ACE’s child-based programs form an integrated support system. Based on Maslow’s Theory of human needs, a child cannot progress to the level that they are capable of new learning until their basic needs have been fulfilled. Therefore, ACE Child Sponsorship program is devoted to fulfilling the basic physical requirements for food, water, sleep, warmth, safety, and security. Once these lower-level needs have been met, students are able to progress further up the hierarchy of need and begin to achieve cognitive development and acquisition of new academic based skills.
Volunteering with ACE Teacher to Teacher Program
Our Teacher to Teacher program is comprised of a network of Stateside and Jamaican teachers with a common goal: to provide the best education possible for every child. As our program continues to grow, we welcome the support of teacher volunteers to this hard working network. In order to maintain the structure and progress of our ACE Tutoring Program and to enhance the opportunities and experiences available to all students, we have established a set of options for our teacher volunteers. Please review the options outlined, consider your strengths and the design of your trip, and let us know the how you would like to contribute. We are so glad you’re interested in being a part of this network of dedicated teachers! To get involved, click an option on the right:
Volunteer Opportunities for Groups
We are so happy to have groups of teachers come and volunteer at our partner schools! The partnership we have with each school is one that evolves over ten years time and our volunteers are valuable at all stages of that process.
Our Jamaican schools have more limited resources than most U.S. schools. Therefore, our students have very limited opportunities for hands on learning in the areas of math and science. Additionally, our schools cannot support fine arts programs, so the opportunities for our students to explore the areas of art and music happen only during summer camps or through the help of volunteers.
With the support of groups of teacher volunteers, we hope to provide resources and time for students in grades Pre-K through 6 to have hands-on learning in the areas of math, science, music and art.

Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals
We welcome individual teachers who are interested in participating in ACE Teacher to Teacher program to volunteer at our partner schools! The partnership we have with each school is one that evolves over a ten year period. Skilled volunteers are valued throughout the growth and partnership process.
At this time, opportunities for individual teachers are primarily in the area of supporting the ACE Tutoring Program. Please fill out the form below if you are interested in an individual teacher volunteer opportunity!
